It’s Manifest Destiny! Montauk Brewing Company heads west when it reaches deep into Queens, taking the New York Mets for the 2015 season.

The Amazins, who have the best Opening Day winning percentage in all of baseball, didn’t disappoint when they kicked off their 2015 campaign on Monday, April 6, away at the Washington Nationals. The Nationals, the predicted National League East powerhouse, fell to the Mets behind a solid start from pitcher Bartolo Colon.

This Monday, April 13, the Mets take their talents North, when they host their NL East rival, the Philadelphia Phillies, at Citi Field for their home opener. When baseball returns to Queens at 1:10 p.m., the Mets will have a new partner in Montauk Brewing Company. The brew will travel from our end of the island to the other, as the recently released Montauk Session IPA cans will be available at Citi Field this season.

Montauk Brewing Company co-founder Vaughan Cutillo talks about the beer’s trek into Queens, the partnership with the Mets, and the outlook for the Amazins’ 2015 season.

What Montauk beers will be available at Citi Field? Where will they be served?

Citi Field will carry the Montauk Session IPA cans on Opening Day. They will be available in the promenade level behind home plate, and in certain sections in left field.

How did Montauk Brewing get into Citi Field?

We are fortunate that the name Montauk resonates at a global level, and the beers are very good! We were contacted a few months ago and the opportunity presented itself fairly organically. We are honored that our beer will be served at Citi Field.

Why is Montauk the perfect beer to pair with baseball?

We love making beer to share with a lot of people, and so our style is simple, clean, and accessible to people who may not know much about craft beer. It’s just good, drinkable beers that we are very proud to share with our fans. There’s nothing like cracking open a can of beer on a hot sunny day and watching baseball.

What food available at Citi goes best with a Montauk brew?

Citi Field is a great venue because they focus on making a memorable experience for the fans. Whether it’s the high quality food selections or ice cold craft beer, the people at Citi Field just do the right thing. Still, I’m a sucker for a hot dog and cold beer during the game. It’s the simple things, right?!

Prediction for Monday’s game? Prediction for the National League East?

The Mets are looking solid this year, and now that Montauk brews are available, I think this year is all about the Mets and Montauk. We hope our beer brings them luck in 2015!

If you could catch any Mets player indulging in Montauk Brewing (after a game, of course!) who would it be?

If Matt Harvey crushes a Montauk can after every game, we will be very happy!
