A man from Riverhead, just released from the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside on Friday, July 13, was arrested a day later on charges he and another man allegedly used stolen credit cards, Riverhead Town Police said.

Police said Richard Johannes used cards stolen in a burglary on June 20. Police said he was found with credit cards stolen from a car on East Main Street when he was arrested on Saturday. He was charged with felonies, including grand larceny, seven counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and five counts of second-degree identity theft, police said. A second man, Gino Florian, 18, of Riverhead was charged with one count each of second-degree identity theft and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, in connection with the use of the stolen credit cards, police said. He remains in the jail and additional charges against him for the use of the credit cards from the burglary are anticipated, police said.

Johannes was processed at Riverhead Police Headquarters and then held for arraignment.

Riverhead police are still investigating a pair of residential burglaries on East Avenue that took place on July 10. In the burglaries, which took place at neighboring homes at 223 East Avenue and 215 East Avenue, an undetermined amount of cash was stolen, according to police. Anyone with any information about either burglary has been asked to contact the Riverhead Town Police Detective Division at 631-727-4500. All calls will be kept confidential.
